Frequently Asked Questions

 1. What applications is the ADSB-MU2 designed for?

The ADSB-MU2 is designed for OEM integration and embedded aviation surveillance applications. It can be integrated into ADS-B ground receivers, airport surveillance equipment such as vehicle ADS-B receivers, UAV and drone detection systems, UTM platforms, flight information displays, laboratory research systems, and customized aviation monitoring solutions.
Its compact size and standard communication interfaces make it easy to integrate into existing hardware platforms.

2. Does the ADSB-MU2 support decoded aircraft data output?

No. The standard ADSB-MU2 outputs ADS-B raw DF messages.
If your project requires decoded aircraft information such as ICAO address, position, altitude, ground speed, heading, or callsign, customized firmware and data formats are available upon request.
Please contact us for OEM customization options.

3. Can the communication protocol be customized?

Yes.
The ADSB-MU2 is designed for OEM applications, and both the communication protocol and output format can be customized according to customer requirements.
We can also customize baud rate, serial protocol, message format, and other communication parameters to match your existing system.

4. Can the ADSB-MU2 be integrated into our own product?

Yes.
The ADSB-MU2 is specifically developed for embedded integration.
With its compact dimensions, low power consumption, and standard interfaces, it can be integrated into customer-designed equipment, including portable receivers, surveillance terminals, UAV systems, and industrial monitoring devices.

5. Does the ADSB-MU2 support OEM and private labeling?

Yes.
We provide comprehensive OEM and customization services, including:
·Hardware customization
·Firmware customization
·Output protocol customization
·Product branding
·Logo printing
·Customized enclosure design
·Software customization
This enables customers to quickly launch their own branded ADS-B products.

6. Can the ADSB-MU2 be used for MLAT systems?

No.
ADSB-MU2 cannot be directly used for MLAT (Multilateration) systems because it outputs raw ADS-B DF17/DF18 messages without high-precision timestamps.
MLAT systems require precise time synchronization between multiple receiving stations. Each receiver must provide received Mode-S/ADS-B messages with accurate timestamps, allowing the MLAT server to calculate the time difference of arrival (TDOA) between different receiving stations.
For MLAT and other time-critical surveillance applications, we recommend the ADSB-MU4 OEM ADS-B receiver module, which adds a high-precision GPS-based timestamp function and is designed for integration into MLAT systems and high-accuracy aircraft surveillance solutions.

7. What antenna does the ADSB-MU2 use?

The ADSB-MU2 operates on 1090 MHz and uses an IPEX RF connector for the ADS-B antenna.
For the best reception performance, we recommend using a high-quality external 1090 MHz antenna with low-loss coaxial cable.

8. Is the ADSB-MU2 suitable for outdoor installation?

Answer:
The ADSB-MU2 itself is an OEM module intended for integration inside customer equipment.
If outdoor deployment is required, the module should be installed inside a weatherproof enclosure with appropriate lightning protection, waterproofing, and thermal management.

9. What operating systems are supported?

The ADSB-MU2 communicates through standard USB or serial interfaces and does not depend on a specific operating system.
It can be integrated with Windows, Linux, embedded Linux, ARM platforms, industrial computers, and custom hardware that supports serial communication.

10. Can I evaluate the module before integrating it into my system?

Yes.
The ADSB-MU2 can be connected directly to a PC via USB for evaluation. It is compatible with the free adsbScope software, allowing developers to verify reception performance and output data before system integration.

11. Can the firmware or functionality be customized?

Yes.
As an OEM product, the ADSB-MU2 supports extensive customization, including:
·Firmware functions
·Output message formats
·Communication protocols
·Interface configurations
·Performance optimization for specific applications
Please contact us to discuss your project requirements.

12. Why choose ADSB-MU2 instead of using a generic SDR receiver?

Answer:
Unlike general-purpose SDR solutions, the ADSB-MU2 is a dedicated ADS-B receiver module optimized for continuous operation and OEM integration.
It offers:
·High receiver sensitivity
·Stable long-term operation
·Low power consumption
·Simple integration
·Industrial communication interfaces
·Professional OEM customization support
These advantages significantly reduce development time and improve system reliability for commercial aviation surveillance products.
